Support the Future Leaders of Our Community
Sponsorships play a vital role in supporting The Males Place’s programs, scholarships, events, and life-changing experiences for the next generation of leaders.
We are deeply grateful to our corporate sponsors for their generous partnerships, grants, and community service contributions, both locally and internationally. Together, we are creating opportunities that empower young men and strengthen our communities.
The Mission
The mission of The Males Place, Inc. is to provide comprehensive, prevention-based behavioral health education, mentoring, and life skills training necessary for the manhood development of African American boys ages 12–18. We create a safe environment for young men to grow experientially in community settings, both in the United States and abroad.
Our holistic curriculum incorporates educational, spiritual, agricultural, social, civic, recreational, and cultural enrichment programs to empower and develop our youth.
The Program Demographics
Our three-tiered program—focused on agriculture, mentoring, and social justice—has served a diverse population in Mecklenburg County and beyond.
- Current Demographics: 98% African American and 2% multiracial.
- Over the past 24 years, we have mentored African American boys, as well as boys from other ethnicities, including White, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American communities.
- 95% of our mentees are considered economically disadvantaged.
- Many graduates have gone on to attend four-year colleges and universities, community or technical colleges, enlist in the military, enter the workforce, or pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.
The Volunteer Mentors
The program is supported by a dedicated group of volunteer mentors, including the executive director, senior mentors, and support mentors, who are organized into four program “kingdoms.”
- Among the mentors, four hold bachelor’s degrees and two hold advanced degrees.
- Many mentors have served in the military and hold diverse professional experiences.
- The mentors provide guidance and role modeling, helping mentees develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Through The Males Place, mentees have access to:
- Community service opportunities.
- Attendance at sports, performing arts, and visual arts events.
- Programs that foster personal growth and exploration of their interests over time.
